Auf dem ehemaligen Hanomag- Gelände ( Hannoversche Maschinenbau Actien Gesellschaft) stehen fast nur noch die Mauern der ehemaligen sogenannten „U-Boot-Halle“ ,die erst 1943 errichte wurde und die im Gegensatz zum Rest der Hanomag nicht mehr für die Rüstungsproduktion eingesetzt wurde.
Ihren Namen erhielt sie von ihrem Tragwerk , dass ursprünglich für eine U-Boot-Fertigungshalle in der Nordwerft der Kriegsmarinewerft Wilhemshaven vorgesehen war. Das Gebäude steht heute unter Denkmalschutz.
Innen erinnern noch viele alte Installationen an die frühere Bestimmung.
Treppen führen zu Galerien unter der sehr hohen Decke, über die unter Anderem die Führerhäuser der Kräne zu erreichen waren. Ein Stück verwunschene Industrieromantik.
Im Rahmen der Renovierungsarbeiten wird außer den Mauern der unter Denkmalschutz stehenden Gebäude nicht viel erhalten bleiben.
Ganz im Gegensatz dazu steht der im Juni 2002 eröffnete Hauptsitz der Nord-LB in Hannover mit seiner verschachtelten Architektur, seinen 17 Stockwerken und 81.000 qm Grundfläche.
Das von dem Architekturbüro Behnisch, Behnisch & Partner entworfene Gebäude wurde wurde im selben Jahr mit dem niedersächsischen Staatspreis für Architektur ausgezeichnet.
Im Innenhof steht die Skulptur „Celebration Tulips“ von dem Amerikaner Jeff Koons.
Über Beide -Skulptur wie Gebäude kann man geteilter Meinung sein. Bei dem Gebäude ist sicher eine häufigsten Ansichten die Verwunderung darüber, dass es trotz der wagemutig wirkenden Verschachtelung der einzelnen Stockwerke stehenbleibt und nicht einfach in sich zusammenfällt.
Andere sagen , es sähe aus wie lieblos übereinandergeschachtelte Baucontainer , die die Arbeiter während der Arbeit an einem anderen Projekt bewohnt haben und nach Beendigung der Arbeit vergessen haben wieder abzubauen.
Auch eine Architektur, die die Menschen polarisiert….
