Das Finden des Hotels hatte sich dann bei nur ungenauem Funktionieren des aus Deutschland mit gebrachten Navi’s, Dunkelheit und meist fehlender Straßenbeschilderung noch als recht schwierig erwiesen, zumal in diesem Teil der Avinguda de Joan Miro fast nur Einbahnstrassen existierten. Aber es gab auf der „Miro“ einen tiefergelegenen Eingang des Hotels, der mit einem Schrägaufzug mit dem Hotel verbunden war.
Das Hotel liegt am Berg über dem Hafen von Palma und bietet einen wirklich fantastischen Ausblick auf die Bucht von Palma. Am Abend traf ich dann noch Barbara und Richard, zwei sehr nette Engländer, die zum zweiten Mal auf Mallorca und in diesem Hotel waren. Sie zeigten mir ein Restaurant, ein paar versteckte Treppen vom unteren Eingang des Hotels abwärts, das „Woody“. Es wurde noch ein sehr netter Abend.
Am nächsten Morgen erwartete mich dann das übliche kalt-warme Frühstücksbuffet für Pauschalreisende. Ich bewundere in den seltenen Fällen, in denen ich die Chance habe, an einem solchen teilzunehmen, die Perfektion meiner Mitbewerber am Buffet. Während ich noch verzweifelt den Anfang des Ganzen suche, stehen sie schon an erster Stelle bei der Station für Eier-Zubereitungen in allen Variationen, wissen natürlich, welche Nahrungsmittel als erste vergriffen sind und wo man sich folglich als Erstes bedienen sollte und suchen nicht minutenlang den Kaffeautomaten, weil sie wissen, das irgendwann ein hilfreicher Geist kommt, der den Cafe an den Tisch bringt. Jahrelange Erfahrung wahrscheinlich.
Palma hat 405.000 Einwohner, die drei Hauptmarinas von Palma- Club de Mar , Marina Port de Mallorca und Real Club Nautico bieten mehren Tausend Yachten Platz-das sind schon beeindruckende Eckdaten. Auf dem Weg vom Hotel abwärts zum Hafen kam ich an einem kleinem Park Public vorbei, der die Hektik und den Lärm drumherum vergessen ließ und eine gewisse Kühle bei inzwischen 32° C bot.
Ich ging am Hafen entlang, guckte mir die Yachten an und stellte fest , das hier wirklich schon einige beeindruckende Boote lagen.
Auf der Avinguda Gabriel Rocca fanden sich viele Prachtbauten, meistens Hotels, aber auch leider viele Hinweise auf den deutschen Tourismus, wie z. B ein Lokal mit dem Namen “ Der Bratwurstmeister“. Ich werde mich daran mit Sicherheit nie gewöhnen.
Cafe’s und Restaurant’s gibt es naturgemäß viele, die Preisgestaltung war aber bei der Lage durchaus erträglich. Hier konnte man das Geschehen an sich vorbei ziehen lassen und Palma auf sich wirken lassen.
Zurück im Hotel zeigte sich, dass der Ausblick auch bei Tageslicht wirklich beeindruckend war.
